I got a call late Friday night from my buddy Rob asking if i wanted to go out on the sound Sunday. Shortly after getting my hall pass (jokes) i was getting my gear ready for a beautiful day on the water.

Woke up at 4:45am and was out the door by 5:15am. Usually I'm the one who is running late but made it to Rob's house at 6am and started loading the boat with all the gear. We made it to the Edmonds launch by 6:45am and didn't really see the line of boats and trailers waiting to go out which was a little weird especially hearing how good reports have been in the sound.

Started making our way out to the hunting grounds and had lines in the water by 7:30am. within 5 minutes we have 2 drive by's but nothing stuck. trolled around and didn't see much action going on around us and not a lot of bait on the finder. After trolling for an hour or so we decided to change our gear and put different stank on (yes, i said stank). Not even within a minute had a fish on nice little sub legal hatchery released. Got back on course and Rob's rod went of but yet another shaker. Put the gear back into the water and about 30 minutes went by and my rod went off Rob grabbed it fish on! being left hand retrieval he had an awkward time reeling it in. As he was reeling his fish in his rod went off DOUBLE!! I had to multi-task reeling a fish in with my right hand and netting his fish. Released his wild fish and my fish was just shy so he went back.

Made it to the end of our trolling lane, turned around, and about half way through the run i saw my rod go slack then just double over. Cranked down on my reel and felt some good head shakes fought the fish and had a hell of a time because he was running right at the boat. Got it to the net and measured 24" gave it some wood shampoo. Rob changed his gear and added more stank, within 2 minutes boom left rod goes off this time he didn't have an issue this time reeling right handed. The 23" got some wood shampoo and we had our limit before 11am.

Rob decided to kill some time and maybe get some flounder. Brought 6 to the boat by 1 and decided to call it a day. It was definitely a good day out the sound and excited for more trips to come with this nice weather.

Until next time!
