I caught a big case of spring fever! There is only one way to fix the sickness! I spent the weekend fishing walleye at Banks Lake. We launched at the day launch. There is still some ice building up on the lake and the ramp at night. We couldnt have asked for better weather. The lake was glass and the sun was warming. We fished from steamboat to barker flates. We caught and marked fish all over. We would catch a walleye about every 15 minutes. Location didn't seem to matter for us as much as depth and color. We caught all of our fish in that 60' too 66' range. Started with slow death hook and a wormharness. After about 4 fish on the wormharness it was time to put another harness on. We were using gold beads and a small silver or copper willow blade. We had a steady bite all day. I soon realized that it is easier to tell people how to catch fish. I was a little rusty and lost morn then I like to admit. We lost a couple big fish but only boated good eaters in the 16" - 19" range. We ended the day with 15 walleye and 3 perch. . Started Sunday right were we left off. The fish were light biting and not staying hooked. Sunday bites were few and far between. We ended up with 10 walleye and a big white fish. Most of the walleye were caught with slow death today. What worked yesterday didn't work today. We marked some real big schools and stopped to jig. Hooked the white fish right off. Fishing isn't easy right now. We ended with a mess of fish to fry! It will only get better as it warms up. I still have some dates in April,May and June to chase these great eating fish.
