After reading multiple reports that the Lake Washington Cutthroat bite was pretty consistent, I decided to check it out for myself. It's a great way to break in my new boat and fish close to home.
Started trolling around Hunts Point in 80ish feet of water. We didn't see anything on the finder(bait or fish), so we moved locations and depths. Started trolling in front of Marina Park Pavillion, heading north towards Juanita in 35-50ft of water. 1.4 to 1.8mph. Fish were right off the bottom feeding on what we assumed to be sockeye smolt. Green/chrome wedding rings tipped with worm and Brad's SuperBait Cut Plug Mini in HoneyDew stuffed with tuna were the hot setups. Moon Jelly type dodgers on both rigs. Long leaders(3-4ft) seemed to make a huge difference.
Went 6/6 on fish, smallest being 16" and largest pushing 22". The bite picked up mid-morning when the sun hit the water. We could've continued fishing all afternoon but the wind was blowing pretty hard from the south.
