My parents decided to come visit me and wanted to go try some fishing. I decided to take them to Offutt lake since it's been pretty good to me the last few trips. The day they decide to come down, of course it would be raining. lol. We hit the lake about 9:30 in the morning and had easy limits by noon. They must have just planted the lake because we were catching a ton of 8-10 fish. We only had three fish or so that were 13-14 inches. The small trout are hungry. we released several in hopes we might get into some bigger fish, then just decided to take our limits. The small ones will be good for the smoker. The fish were anywhere from the surface to 15ft on the downrigger. We did a top line seps chrome flasher set up with a green dot frog needle fish about 150ft behind the boat. On the downrigger rods we used an orange/gold lucky craft crankbait, and a white/redhead crankbait. Trolled the lures at 1.7-1.8 mph. We were the only boat on the water, it was awesome to see my parents having a good time reeling the fish in. My mom landed the biggest fish of the day. Unfortunately the day ended in a sour note. I just had my truck in the shop to replace the clutch pedal, and well this was my first day out after picking my truck up from the shop. They apparently didn't do something right as the pedal went out again and I had to be towed home. Hopefully they make it right and I can get back on the water soon.
