My wife and I stopped by Lavender lake yesterday for a few hours of relaxing (me fishing, her sitting in the sun reading a book). There are now largemouth bass all over in this lake. I only saw one decent sized bass (approximately 1 pound), but the water was thick with three to eight inchers. I started off fishing a roostertail (black body, silver blade) and caught and released multiple little largemouth, and one 1.5 to 2 pound carp. I then switched to worms and caught a few more of the little largemouth and two fairly healthy northern pikeminnows (also called squaw fish by some). All of the largemouth and the carp were released. This is a nice little lake with friendly people. Even the jet ski crowd was polite and stayed on the far end of the lake away from the people fishing at the public access points.
