The weather report said it would be windy slacking off in the afternoon. NOT. Felt like a hurricane at 16mph. The main lake was so windy it took two motors to get across to the shelter of the lagoon which also was quite windy.
Only a hearty kayak tour joined us on the lake. We were the only fishing boat. Nice. 64.2 water, 65 air temp.
Shortly after a barbecue lunch of hot dogs on the boat, a tree gave up in the wind and came crashing down along the shoreline. Timber!
We enjoyed casting and trolling and landing and releasing 33 trout in total. P. had 12, me 11 and K. 10. P won the body count on the rocky troll back to the boat ramp. Waves were 2+ feet with spray coming over the bow when the final fish hit. Standing and rocking bringing in that last fish felt more like the big lakes of Minnesota than Washington State.
My trout was the largest of the day. I lost a favorite vintage lure unfortunately. On one pass under the bridge K and P had on a double - fun. There were many follows, a few missed strikes and a few jumpers that got away. People always ask us - are you using eggs, marshmallows, power bait, wooley boogers? Nope.
A super day on the water 11-4.
