I launched at Loon again on Monday, this not working thing is "working" out pretty well. I thought I would try out some new home made lures today. They basically look like a Mack's Sockeye Pro. I use a smile blade, some beads, a double hook setup. I had one tied with a pink smile blade/orange bead red hook setup and one with a red smile blade, red/egg colored bead red hook setup. Again using the same corn from last trip mixed with Redd Drift bait mix and some Graybills Salmon formula. I had my first fish in 5 minutes, turns out to my surprise it was a nice 17" German Brown, I didn't think there were any in Loon. My first assumption was light colored Tiger trout, but this one had an adipose fin. I took it home figuring it was a mis-clip, however she had the starting of eggs, therefor not a Tiger trout. I continued to just destroy Kokanee for the next few hours, trying to run two down riggers was nearly impossible. I had so many takes and hookups, it was a fun day. I started fishing right out of the launch and only made it just past the Island, just spend your time looking for schools of them on your finder and let em have it. I was trolling as slow as my f6 would go which is around 1.2-1.6 if the wind picked me up, definitely had more takes around the 1.2-1.4 mark at 21ft. A couple of the Kokes were just almost kissing 12" which is a pretty decent hog for old Loon Lake. Tight lines.
