Seems like a fine way to spend the longest day of the year. Never been up that way, need to give it a try.

There are walleye all the way to the ocean, with the WA State record from the TRi-cities area, a giant fish of 20.32 pounds -- and it is not likely the biggest fish in the system, with a world record possible. The only thing wrong with this World Class fishery is the WA fish and game which cannot seem to stop killing walleye with their gill nets and have even convinced a lot walleye and bass fisherman to keep way more fish than is sustainable in order to the keep the fishery World Class. They should be killing sea lions, terns and commarants, not fish, but that makes for too much common sense. The only reason In-Fisherman magazine declined to call the Columbia a top 10 walleye fishery is because one of their main criteria is that the fishery be managed as a valuable resource. Too bad for all of us as we all know the salmon runs are not in decline because of walleyes but instead because of habitat change period. Sea lions are now year around residents in the Columbia because of the salmon.

bullpine - I would agree with you about the sea lions and the cormorants but you really think the walleye and smallmouth don't hammer the salmon and steelhead smolts????? Come on, I doubt they are getting that big just eating suckers and squaw fish.
