after 2 days at banks with little luck we decided to hit the spoko arm for some different scenery.. parking lot FULL.. plenty of recreational boaters out. started near the confluence working up river. picking up a couple dinks.. a couple bass.. and two keepers .. river full of debris but more than manageable . outside the confluence seemed a little better trolling along either side of the big river. ended up with six nice eyes around 17" mostly in the 20 something FOW.

Thanks for the report. Did you make it as far up the arm as Porcupine?

no.. it was SOOOOOOOo busy on the river.. I didn't want to fight the wake traffic going that far

FYI: wife and i went above porkypine bay a week and a half ago - got above the boaters once we were in the narrows - started trolling
upriver at he pump station and all we got were hungry net pen trout. a half doz other boats doing same. we came for 'eyes so headed
for the 5can, nothing. went into the narrows above the 7can, still nothing. kept going threading our way through the underwater pillars
to the ranches below the dam - began a drift with the current 1.1-1.2mph and 62deg using gold and bright yellow/green, bingo !!

haven't been up river that far before.. usually done fishing the arm by early june and off to banks from then on.. I know summer on the arm is tougher.. boat traffic was so bad last weekend I didn't wanna travel to many miles any direction it was a constant wake on the lake

Thanks for the great information, gentlemen. This is our first year with the boat and fishing for walleye so all information is good information! Sounds like I can probably safely scratch the arm off of my list until early next year when it picks up again. As for Banks, I've seen a few reports indicating that it's slow there right now too. Are guys generally just working the weed lines at Barker flats during the summer on Banks along with the flat at the south end?

the weed lines around the flats, the miracle mile are the areas we work if we do go there during the summer - there are the recreational boaters
there too - usually we try to hit banks mid september and stay a week or so - suspect the lake may have seen just to much fishing pressure the
last couple of years and we are seeing the effects this year - there's lotsa us out there that like to fish, so quality and/or quantity may suffer
once in a while - dats life.
