Left the Hobie at home and headed east to Fish with Jeff Witkowski of Darrell and Dad's for my 5th time. This time I took my son with me. Just a quick word on fishing with Jeff. I keep going back simply because Jeff is just flat awesome to fish with. He really works his tail off to try and put you on fish. If you have never Mackinaw fished on Chelan, it's an absolute blast and I highly recommend hooking up with Jeff.


We started out morning at 5:30am. Started putting lines down about 5:45, and before we could get all of the lines down, fish on! This one hopped off quickly, but great start. In short order I landed a 13.8lb Mack, and my son got to land his first ever Mackinaw. Then, the fish went silent for a good long spell. Jeff picked up our gear and ran farther uplake by the Yacht club. First pass, nothing. Uh oh. We stuck with it though and soon Jeff had us back on fish. Big flatfish and Jeff's Drifts baited with northern pikeminnow were the ticket today. We finished our day with 9 Macks and one nice 14 inch cutthroat that hit the line before we could get the line into the downrigger clip.


Beautiful day we had, and even better company.
