Worked up and down the south bank of the Fremont cut between the powerlines and had great success at both lunch time on the banks and after work approx 5pm from the dock. I want to say that I did not come prepared with a net as I am not familiar with the area and wasnt sure Id catch anything. This does not excuse but does explain my poor handling of the fish as seen in the pictures. I will be more preapred next time.

At lunch I threw small spinners and grubs to 4-6" Rock bass, i switched off the spinners very quick as couldnt get depth and also the rocky/weedy banks didnt suit. The grubs worked well and the young will devour anything that moves, they are annoying to unhook. The adults are a fun little hit though.

Early evening threw spinners with some weight off the dock, caught some very young smallies and rockies. Wanting something more substantial I rigged upsomething between a shaky head and a texas rig, didnt have my full tacklebox. That had unexpected great luck. I caught 2 smallies roughly 9" and 11". I caught a 13" catfish. I also caught what looked like a nice sized spawning smallie, it had redfins, roughly 14". As I attempted to land it and get my phone out to document it kicked off the hook, no net so shame on me. After googling for a bit I'm actually thinking it was a European Perch if thats even possible??? Maybe a Yellow perch with discoloration? Water visibility was good so I know what I saw. Definite green body with distinct darker stipes, and red/orange fins and slight hump just behind head. Anyways, my second to last cast of the day had me pull in the smallie shown roughly 14", once again excuse the poor handling.

All in all great day, many fish, many types, good little fights, and great weather/location. I will definitely be back

Nice report, thanks.
Your fish handling skills are still better than many folks. (-:

Great report! Lake Union is a lot of fun, huh? I'll have to make it out there soon.

It sure is good fishing for such an "urban" area.
