Definitely a 5 star day!! Fished MA10 with Ben Eggertsen. We caught a couple real nice hatchery Chinook.

Started just off Shilshole about 5:30. Lines in the water for about 30 seconds and fish on! Definitely not ready for that and it was fish off. Lines down for another 5 minutes and another fish on. We still werent ready and another fish off. LOL. Third fish in about 30 minutes and that one went in the box!!!

No further fish on in Shilshole so we moved up to the Edmonds oil docks. Caught a couple sub legals and then WHAMOOO!!!! Big beautiful Chinook on board.

Fish in Shilshole hit on a spinner bait with herring teaser about 70 feet on the cable, and the big one at the oil docks hit on a squid with Ace Hi fly inset and herring teaser, 150 fow dragging bottom. Purple Haze flashers.

No wild Chinook and no Coho were caught which was a little unusual. Dont know where they went, maybe over to Jeff Head.

Tight lines!!
Randy

Nice looking fish! If I didn't have to get work done before my upcoming Baker Lake trip, I'd be out there too!

LOL it aint easy. We fish our heinies off!!! Work the water, work the water column, swap out gear and find something that works. Sometimes it works....sometimes the fish gods spray us with that special cologne that smells like skonk.

I play beach volleyball at Golden Gardens on weeknights and this tuesday I noticed what looked like a ton of baitfish jumping out the water. I assumed that meant Salmon were in the area. Awesome report, shows they were! I really need a boat so i can try Salmon fishing in the sound sometime haha.

By myself I picked up one about 12 pounds, near the SE corner at 6:45. I saw 18ftTrophy and he had one also about 9 or so. 100 ft of water, 75 on the DR, blue haze squid with an Ace Fly under it and a herring strip. When I'm by myself I usually put the net inside the boat for easy access. This time it didn't work so well since the mesh got caught on a fitting. Playing the fish with my right hand and struggling to get it untangled with my left. Only reason I got the fish was it had both hooks in him.
