I've spent 4 days in the past week at Washington. Got tired of the rivers and decided to head back to bigger water as my float tube had not benn used in a few weeks. Found the perch to be almost at the point of annoyance so small grubs and craw jigs got replaced by large senkos and spinners. Turns out it won't cut the perch as much as i'd hoped, but it does up the size. The 7 inch average becomes a 13 inch average. And the smallies have made their presence known as well. Picked up quite a few in the 2 - 3 pound range and 1 a little over 23 inches. Not sure about the weight. Not sure it really matters. Took a few pics and let her go. Early morning i've been finding them in 8 to 12 feet of water. Starting there, i simply make passes over sharp points and large structure gradually getting deeper with each pass till about 30 feet of depth. That seems to be the depth that the bites are too few and too far to waste my time. 1 Large mouth and 1 cutt have landed in the mix too. Haven't done any fishing in the evenings as i have a girlfriend i'd like to keep and time on land isn't horrible..... it's tolerable. -release 'em!
