You have to love Lake Sammamish. Headed down to try out the boat and do a little cutthroat trout fishing. The weather was gray and smoky but the water perfect. A few bass fishermen on the lake and maybe 10 skier types as well as a paddleboard competition over at the state park. We trolled from Issaquah Creek out past the weather buoy and finally got a hit well past the buoy and fish 1 in the net and returned to the lake. We trolled on the west side of the lake towards Redmond and caught a couple of small ones and then bonanza. We have the old fisherman Dan and the old fisherman's father. Well, being up 3 to 0 on quantity doesn't mean much when the old timer's dad hauls in an 18" 2 lb beauty. And to top it off, he caught another one a half hour later. The first was 2.05 lbs on the scale and the second was his twin brother coming in at 2.07 lbs. and about 17-18" in length for both. Really nice fish for Lake Sammamish. Totals for the day were old timer 6 fish but the old timer's dad 2 giants. All were returned to the lake but one who could not quite get back in swimming form. He did form a great dinner, red meat and delicious. Our old goat lures were again the ticket and we fished between 30 and 40 feet down on the downriggers. A great day to be on the lake and in 4 hours we caught 8 fish, an honorable day out on the lake. Once again the hunter/gatherers come through for the family.
