Long time lurker... first time reporter!
I was itching to get on the Skagit but was tied up for Labor Day weekend. FUN! Family weekend at Lake Wenatchee, but I knew fish were sneaking by back home. Made it out today after work, just fishing from the bank, but no signs of fish moving through or holding. Fished for a while anyway, vibrax and yarn flies, and nada.
Decided to check up by SW and fish were rolling here and there. Started drifting the vibrax thru a seam and doing the required ultra slow retrieve that drives me crazy sometimes, and bam! second cast fish on! I promptly did a spastic dance of wrongness and ended up just giving that coho a quick workout. Fished that seam up and down for a bit and tied into another one. Nice shiny purple hued silver! Bonked it, bled it, penned the catch card, and called it a day. Well, I did fish for just a few minutes more, but I figured going home fairly quickly would be worth some points with the wife. Now I've got to get the kids out for a couple of these!
The time is now, go get 'em!
