We arrived at the launch at Vernita at 6:30 and we were on the water fishing by 7:00. We ran 2 poles with 11 inch pro troll flashers and 3 foot leader to a hot tamale and Seahawk super bait. We stuffed our super baits with garlic scented tuna. We were out less than fifteen minutes in the king hole when the hot tamale rod goes off. After a great battle we landed a 12 pound king. My boys were pretty excited and I thought we might have a great day but it was very slow after that. We had 2 more fish on that got off near the boat. We ran up the river and fished below the dam but didn't have anymore hits. At noon we moved back down to the king hole near the launch and got our 2nd fish of the day which was almost the same size as our first fish. This fish also came on the hot tamale. We called it a day at 1:30 and headed home. We saw a few fish caught and the fish checker said that it has been relatively slow but it was still a great day on the water.
