I saw one good report on Lk. Wa. so I thought I would give it a try. In years past I have had better luck in late September/early October on this lake. The fish were scattered in small schools unlike last year where there was a massive school in Moss bay. I didn't launch the boat until 10am and fished until 1pm with two buddies. Not the ideal time for salmon. We caught one really nice Cutt about 19" and a Squawfish that hit like a salmon. I fed that one to the gulls.

I tried many setups. We ran different plugs including Old Goat Lures, Magwarts and other crankbaits without any dodger or flasher and then I tried a dodger with a 2" Tequila Sunrise hoochie (the DJ Butler special) tipped with a cured prawn. Plugs got both fish. I saw DJ fishing as I left and he already had 1 Coho. I only saw one other Coho caught when I was out there. About 15 boats out there yesterday.

We got 2 in yesterday around 8AM, the bite died real quick.

This closely echos my experience yesterday also. Tried spoons, plugs and hootchies tipped with shrimp; Tried deeper, more shallow, faster, slower..no joy. Only saw one being netted all morning. Most that I spoke to had one or nothing .
Guess I will try it again!

It was a tough day today. I got 2 first thing in the morning and after about 9 the Coho bite died down and I hooked into 2 nice cutties. Let them go. Got the Coho on cut-Plug herring

We leave after 9am.....seems to be am bite only out there. bonked 6 out in front of Edmonds today fighting the Indian nets....they are still coming!

I agree... day light fishery.. I'm fishing the salt... at least those fish will bite all day.

Late start yesterday. No fish. Ran a range of setups, speeds, depths. The salt has been better.

Sir, the lake wa coho are super interesting. As many think it’s an “early bite” I’ve yet to find morning any better than the afternoon or evening. I’ve experienced fishing each section of the day and have had equal success. Best fishing surprisingly for me has been around noon to 4pm. After I saw you, I landed another at 1:30pm and one more around 3:45. Chartreuse Wiggle hoochie with herring scent.
