My wife and I spent a couple days on Roosevelt for a last hurrah until the winter bite and were glad we did! Arrived Monday with the intention of spending a couple days enjoying the sun with lower than normal expectations for catching the target which were 'bows.
Day one, 9AM we dropped our gear and trolled our way up to Abraham cove using Mack smile blades in green, red, blue and whatever else I could dredge up out of the tackle box all tipped with a small piece of crawler. We were marking fish at 25' at the drop off so we started trolling at 20 to 30' in 50 to 70 FOW. One strike, nothing boated. No matter, the sun was out, no wind and frankly I had no problem with the whole picture. Changed over to flies of several varieties, rainbow rap, etc etc. no luck.

Around noon we picked up and ran down to Hawk Creek and changed over to a Luhr Jensen Ford Fender, 22", brass/nickel with bright red blade. Our speed varied from 1.5 to 2mph. We started fishing at the arm's western end just off the shore line along the shelf on the south side in 35 FOW with 2oz banana weight place 12" in front of the blade with 100' of braid and 10' of mono leader. The terminal gear was a green mack's smile blade (no worm). Someone turned the fish spigot on as we were nailing 'bows about one every 10 minutes. When we got to the eastern end of the arm toward to the mouth of the creek, we'd loop around and do it again. This continued until about 4:30 or so and the final count for day one was 16 fish all C/R. All in the 14 to 16" range with one that went up to almost 18". Well fed specimens too.

Wednesday the action was a bit slower (same gear, same location) but we still boated 14 fish about the same size. We moved further out in the arm and went a bit deeper to see if we could improve the size but they all still came in about 14 to 16". I would have given the trip 5 stars but I became mildly irritated with some minor mechanical issues that the shop said they fixed.

Good luck out there!
