Launched out of 7 Bays. Initially, we fished due north; but, we weren't seeing anything on the fish finder. So, we pulled up our gear and headed down to Hawk Creek. There were two of us in the boat and we both caught our limits. (We also lost several fish before we could get the net out.)

We were trolling several Old Goat OG1 lures. The most productive lure for the afternoon was the OG1 2.44" in green perch. This was followed by an OG1 2.8" in orange-perch that we'll be releasing to the store soon. The fish seemed to be in the upper water column and the most consistent depths were between 17 and 23 feet. The most productive trolling speed was 2.7mph.

The water was a little choppy initially; but, later in the afternoon it really settled down.

Hi Donn: Awesome report. Thank you. Makes me want to get over your way and fish Roosevelt. Probably won't happen now tho till spring. I will be using the OG1's on Wednesday here on a local lake tho. Used them last Thursday on Walupt lake. The soninlaw and I got 19 on, and released 17 all on the 2.44 inch OG1. Thanks again for a great lure. Have had many happy days using them.

Denny: Sounds like the OG1s are working on the west side as well! (What colors are proving most effective?) Thanks!

Any kokanee in the bunch? I haven't heard of much success for kokanee lately and am hoping they come back soon. Thanks for the report.

No kokanee last Friday: just rainbows. (Last several trips to Roosevelt have been all 'bows.)

Donn: The 2.44 inch orange has been the best, but the pink one in the same size is a real close second. Leaded line with 50 feet of 15 pound leader/small swivel/42 inches of leader to the old goat lure. Where I'm at on Wednesday it's 2 -1/2 colors at about 1.8 mph-1.9 mph. Works every time. Tight lines.

Thanks for the details: The fluoro-orange has been a go-to color on Rock Lake for us. (But, the green-perch has surprised us a couple of times and out-fished the orange...)

I agree. The green perch has done extreemly well for me too at both Sprague and Rock lakes. Thanks for the tip on Rock lake. It was good fishing there last October for me where you mentioned an area I might want to concentrate my efforts on. Both the perch and the orange did well. Biggest fish came from Sprague that was around 22 inches. Sweet memories.
