My fishing partner and I decided to spend a few of our morning hours fishing Lake Sammamish for the first time in quite awhile. We fished the south end near the mouth of Issaquah Creek, west and east sides half way up the lake and areas to the north on both the west and east sides of the lake. We fished with downriggers set at between 25 and 45 feet using Needlefish, Old Goat lures and Kingfishers with various types of scents applied to those lures. In 4 hours of fishing time, we caught and released 3 Cutthroat that were 10 to 14 inches and we had a couple of other strikes. We also caught and very carefully released a 12 inch Kokanee. It was a gorgeous day on the lake with bright sunshine which brought out a number of water sports enthusiasts. We generally don't fish Lake Sammamish until well into November, however, we wanted to see what it would produce for us a this point. Our next stop will be the north end of Lake Washington in the vicinity of McAleer Creek.
