Had a couple good days this past week (Thurs/Sat) on Lake Sammamish fishing with Katie and Patrick. Fishing was great but it sure as heck wasn't easy! We fished long and hard, threw everything at them and persistence really paid off. Caught some, kept some, lost some and C&R some. There are some really nice fish out there in the 15-18 inch range and an occasional one bigger.
Weather was pretty crazy. Deluge on Thurs and the fog was so thick on Saturday we were fishing by gps which is always interesting. Both afternoons cleared up really nice.
Fish were really scattered throughout the lake and throughout the water column anywhere from 0-50 feet. I marked a couple hot spots but think they are more like lukewarm spots. The fish simply are where you find them wherever that may be.
We tried a lot of different setups but for the most part, Old Goats 1.8" and 2.8" perch pattern, small FlashyFish spoons, home brew spinners with a willow blade, and green/black/pink/chartreuse hoochies with worm chunk were all consistent producers in any color. Color just didnt seem to matter. All behind a 4.5 inch dodgers. Speed was appx 1.5-2mph. Old Goats and FlashyFish used 18-20 inch leader and spinners or hoochies used 12 inch leader. Leader length really does matter especially with cutties.
Tight lines
