This trip was a product of only having two hours to fish tonight. Also, since this lake closes for no reason tomorrow, I thought I would run a lap in the kayak. A bit of algae stain greeted me but not terrible. I headed left from the launch and threw Senkos all along the laydowns and shoreline. I didn't so much as spook a fish with that and I fished it deep more than a few times. Threw a jig for a while and nothing on that either.

When I got near the far shallow end I decided to toss a floating Rapala and see if I couldn't go all Jamesb on em?! ;)

Sure enough, had a swirl instantly! These fish were in two feet or less water and near wood. If they missed it they were done as they would not come back or hit anything else I followed up with.

I caught two and missed three in that area so I stayed with it all the way back to the launch. Caught five more on the way back and probably missed the same. They weren't all shallow but they were all on wood cover.

They wouldn't hit it moving and still wouldn't touch a Senko. Probably my last after work trip this week but I know enough now to know exactly where I will be this Saturday!
