Patty and I took the motorhome down to Wawawai friday afternoon, just beating the snow. Only people in the campground... Love that! Started fishing Sat. at 7am. Calm, no wind or current, which isn't a good thing usually. I landed a beautiful wild buck near 15 lbs, very strong fish! Releasing a powerful beast like that is difficult on shore, but he swam away healthy. Patty then hooked up on one but it came off. About 45 min. later I caught a hen around 7-8lbs, also wild. She jumped completely out of the water twice before I got her to shore for a successful release. That was it for the action. Seems like 9-11am is the bite. Purple and pink jig with charterus head has caught my last 5 steelies. Used Northwest Best Bait coon shrimp. Mike does a great job. They are good and firm and really hold their color.
