A few buddies and I went bank fishing for the day. I going to give it a 3 only because people around us were pretty successful yet our group was unsuccessful. We caught only one in the afternoon, our neighbors almost limited out between the three of them. We were only 50 ft away from them using the same bait. Worm and marshmallows. Power bait. Fishing off bottom using a 3 ft leader. Amazing how this was occurring. Oh well beats work!

50 ft. away? Heck , you can have that happen in the same boat. LOL Fishing not catching.

When all other reasonable explanations fail, you need to examine karma; did you call in sick today? Did you tell your wife a white lie about where you were going? Maybe you bought yourself a reel with Christmas money instead of giving it to charity? Last summer I told my wife a small lie (fib) about the cost to repair the kicker motor and I spent the next day puking while being tossed around in the Pacific. You see what I mean?

Funny you mention that. I did buy a new rod for a lonely reel I found in my shop, told the wife it was for my daughter. ??

Fish can smell maybe they had a better cologne. I am serious, ask RC Bailey the guide. They pick up human sent.

Gotta question whether your fellow anglers down the way are aware of the mandatory release of rainbows with intact adipose fin (per the regs)...VERY, VERY poor communication by WDFW on site and in very small print in the regs.; yet, some large $$$ tickets are being written.

Yes they were aware, in fact they had caught four throughout the day. They released them. I too found it hard to find in the regs.

For any who read the comments above, the adipose fin restriction is clearly stated on pg 92 of the current pamphlet, Eastside Lakes - Special Rules section for Lake Roosevelt, and reads "TROUT Year-round No min. size. Daily limit 5. Only adipose fin-clipped TROUT may be retained." The problem is most people DO NOT read the Special Rules section. I've advocated here many times, the FIRST place to check is the Special Rules section for any body of water you intend to fish and IF the body of water is NOT listed, only then follow Statewide Rules. I know this may be counter intuitive, but this method ALWAYS works and will keep you on the right side of rules. :-)
