Got a break in the wet windy weather and headed to Ft Spokane. Have not seen many reports on rainbow lately from Roosevelt so we decided to go make one. Roads from Spokane were icy so the drive took a little longer than usual, but the weather was better than forecast. Launched at about 9:20 and started trolling right out of the launch. Marked a couple fish but no bites. Tried the north side of the confluence west of the casino. Still no bites. Entering the main stream we marked a couple fish and got our first hit. Three of the first five fish were unclipped so they went back to swimming. Worked the east shore north of the confluence and found a fairly steady bite at 3 colors leaded line in 30 foot and less water depth though we did get some hits in deeper water on turns. Lost a few that tail walked and shook the hook. Had limits for the two of us by 1:30. Best lure was a trolling fly in orange and brown color with a little gold ribbon in it. Got bites on red and chartreuse but not as many. 1.8 to 2.3 mph. There were seven boat trailers in the parking lot when we launched. All still there when we left. Didn't see any boats on the mainstream so they probably went up the arm for walleye or burbot. There are good fishing days and good catching days. Today was both.
