Returned to Ft Spokane today after a great day yesterday. Temperature was a little warmer than yesterday at launch time, about 27 degrees but no sun. Also no wind. The lake was like glass most of the day. Started at the north side of the confluence as we did yesterday but the bite was slower and inconsistent. The downrigger at 17 feet with a perch pattern fly was the top lure today but not like yesterday and the first three or four fish (the biggest of the day) were all unclipped so are still swimming and growing. About 45 minutes into the day the trolling motor decided to not run so we spent the rest of the day trolling with the Yamaha 115/85 outboard jet. Hard to steer a jet at low power so we meandered a lot. Speed a little higher too (about 2.4 mph). The bite never got very steady near the confluence so we headed north above split rock again. Found a better bite and finished our limits. (Three fishermen, 15 trout mostly 15 to 16") I would give the fishing a three and a half, but the glassy lake and good company bump it up to a 4. Hard to complain about starting the new year fishing Roosevelt on a beautiful comfortable day.
