I fished with Brian (Brisco) on his new 21' Hewes Searunner with hardtop and diesel heater on the last day of 2018. What a great day to be out catching kokanee! We got started around 7:30 and my lead core at three colors soon found the first kokanee of the day. The RMT UV50/50 orange and moonjelly paired with a white/orange spatter Assassin really triggered the bite on the Hayden kokes. It was a Christmas gift from Fishdawg ( Bryan Peck). The #2 hooks really " grabbed" those kokes!! Brian was running on downriggers at 30 to 45 deep and was getting hits but the fish really didn't want to stay on. I also ran a downrigger at 30' and got a few on it. 1.2-1.5 mph with the iTroll on Hunt seemed to do the trick.
The bite died off around 11:30 and the fish were scattered so we had to work for them but a really nice day and great friendship make for an awesome fun time on the water the last day of the year. The kokes are running just under 12" to about 13.5"; really fat and so beautiful. Finished with 17 in the boat for the day.
iFishSolutions will be in booth #556 at the Puyallup Sportsman's Show. Drop by and say hi if you're in the neighborhood.
Happy New Year everybody and "The Experiment Must Continue" in 2019 - Alan
