Arrived at Spring Canyon launch about 0800 Monday-surprised to find that we were the first boat there. Motored up-river just past Swawilla Basin where we found fish last week. It was breezy with water temp 39.5-40 degrees. The morning bite was really active with mostly wild fish. 5 of our first 6 fish were chunky 18-21" unclipped 'bows that put up a good fight. The morning remained pretty active with some of the usual sized hatchery fish showing up. After noon, things got pretty quiet for a couple of hours then a short flurry of activity again around 2PM. Finished the day about 3PM with 9 in the box and releasing 8 or 9 wild fish. Flies off the planer board with 3/8 to 5/8 oz weights were by far our best presentations with a pink UV apex and an Uncle Buck's spoon accounting for only 3 fish all day. Best fly colors were Blk/orange/glow and Orange/chartreuse.
