I wouldn't call it "consistent" but once I figured how the wind had them positioned I figured a couple things out!

Pitching and flipping a 1oz slither rig with a Rage Lobster on the slack side of reed clumps and throwing a swim jig on the wind blown side of reed areas accounted for all fish.

Caught two fish at 5 and 5.1, a couple 4 to 4.5's and four fish in the 2.5 to 3.5 range. Fish were spooky and a long pitch with a quiet entry was important. I also shut off all electronics and my livewell just to be stealthy.

The sun popped out for a while but the wind kept it chilly. Water temps were upper 50's and visibility was about 18 to 24 inches.

Looks like a great day to me. The quality was certainly there if not the numbers.

You’re the first person I’ve come across who uses a slither rig. Usually I tell people I was using one and they have no idea what I’m talking about. For whatever reason it’s always out fished a jig for me.

I like them on this lake. I like to make long pitches back into heavy grass and they offer more action than just a weight and plastic rig and don't hang up like a jig.

They’re pretty great. I’ve done well fishing them in flooded brush back in Idaho before I moved here. Lots of submerged willows there in the spring and this rig came through them very well. One difference for me with them is I’ll fish them in lighter weights down to 1/4 oz in woody cover, whereas punch rigs I think of 1 oz plus and knocking them through mats and pads. My best trailer has been a Missile Baits Baby Dstroyer. Love those things.

Looks like an awesome day on the water. That would be a "5" in my book. Can't wait to see what a 5 looks like in your book!! Congratulations!!! I've always wanted to fish Terrell but have never made it up there (yet). Thanks for the report!!

I've had some days on this lake so maybe I'm grading on too much of a curve? Was definitely happy with the day just trying to follow the rules and a few bites with long dry spells in between isn't 'consistent' to me. I would catch two, then not a bite for an hour, then catch two, etc. Couldn't really dial in on anything deeper than three feet?

Yes a great day for sure. Haven't seen a slither rig in many years. I wonder if it's the same setup from the '80s and '90s.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of it’s basically a Texas rig with a jig skirt at the front of the bait. Basically a jig with better action and comes through cover better.

Yup, my thought also, so I did a Youtube search and that's what it is. 'Back then' we used a spinnerbait skirt and bullet sinker that we sometimes pegged.

That’s pretty much how I do it still except now I use tungsten. Luckily it rarely hangs up since those weights are so pricey.

Love that lake. Between how many tourneys are on it and weather I cant seem to find a weekend to get there... showed up 2 weeks ago to a full lot and tourney since I didnt bother to look. Seems like just about every other week theres one... great fishing b8! I'm jealous

The good thing about Terrell is the limited parking keeps the lake from getting too overcrowded on a given day...the bad thing is it's a long drive to get there and not be able to find parking.

Its a punch rig. Its been around ever since people started trying to catch bass out of cover.

The specific weights with the skirts already attached are called Slither Rigs, but yes, you are correct...punch, punch, punch.
