For the first time in a couple of years I got skunked; luckily my buddy Jay caught 2 trout and 1 nice 21" walleye.

The water level is down about 8-10' and there is very little current; both are bad for fishing at Rufus. We launched out of Seaton's Grove and headed down to the island. We hit a coupe of places on the upriver side, Jay caught 1 trout and the 1 eye. We then tried the down river side where Jay caught the other trout. All were caught on bright colored jigs. I think I rolled one fish with a blade bait but that was it for me. We also headed down river and stopped at a couple of areas that normally produce a lot of quality fish but never had a bite. We then headed down and trolled spinners on the big flat near the net pens, again nothing. There were several other boats near the net pens and none appeared to boat any fish either. Water temp is 39 degrees.

Rufus is one of my favorite places to target big eyes but the current water conditions are less than ideal to say the least.
