I took a fishing rod with me this weekend while scouting for ducks on Frenchman's Wasteway. I only fished from shore in a few places, but was rewarded with a nice 1 1/2 pound smallmouth that took a jig/grub combo I tossed out. He went back to grow a bit larger for the next fisherman to catch.

Other than that, only a six inch smallmouth landed and the sight of a few large carp that would have been fun to hook if I could have. The weather was nice and the crowds were minimal.
