I fished Lake Sammamish this morning until noon, starting around 830am. Water temp was 49 when I started and 53 when I finished. I managed to catch a couple smallies between 10 and 11 am. Nothing to brag about but glad I wasn't skunked this time. First one was a little over a pound and the 2nd one was around 2.5 lbs. Caught them deep on a jig.

Congrats! I'm still looking for my first bass of 2019. I was hoping they'd be coming into the more shallow areas now, but they're still deep, huh? Thanks for the post.

I've been checking out the shallow (smallmouth) areas and haven't seen much activity yet but they ought to be moving up pretty soon - if we ever get a good stretch of warmer weather again. Keep at it - the bite will come!!

Muckleshoot tribe has been netting the Bass over thel last couple of years. The fishery has been ruined.

I believe it. It's not like it used to be.

I live on the lake and watched the Muckleshoot tribal boats place nets up and down the west shoreline. One day the end of their net was maybe 10 feet off of our dock, stretching well out into the lake. They netted for five days straight, and my neighbors and I watched them pull in fish after fish when they brought in their nets, many of them bass. Their stated goal is to make sure there are no walleye in the lake, and to reduce the predatory non-native fish that eat the salmon smolts. I sent a message to WDFW asking them about this, but they had no involvement with this. Why does the Muckleshoot tribe get to decide that they want to reduce the bass to support salmon hatchery efforts? I am a big supporter of doing what we can to protect and enhance our salmon runs, but Lake Sammamish seems like it is used primarily as a freshwater fishery, that should be regulated by WDFW. They are going to devastate this fishery if they have not already.
