I spent years using Garmin products in aviation, in both recreational flying and search & rescue, and have always been a fan. I think part of it is just that after lots of hours in the air with a device, you get to where you can operate it smoothly and predictably. In the cockpit, simplicity rules - it needs to "just work".
I know lots of guys love the Lowrance products, and if they work for them, that's awesome. Go with what you love. For me, though, it's Garmin from now on.
I hope you get things sorted out and that whatever device you choose gives you great service and makes your fishing more enjoyable.
