My son and I decided to head out to see if we could catch a few perch since the weather report said it would be nice Saturday morning. Fail on both of those. Weather was much cooler and breezy than we had hoped for, and we failed to get a nibble while perch fishing in 2 hours from 40 to 105 FOW. Out of exasperation decided we would throw some lipless crank baits at docks for bass. Two hours later had caught 7 smallmouth from 1.5 to 4.5 lbs, and 1 twenty inch rainbow, all safely released. Best day I’ve ever had bass fishing as far as size and quite a blessing considering it was the fallback plan.

Anybody that wants to give a fella a hint where to find the perch this time of year it would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I have no hints to share where to find perch in Lake WA. However, I hope you will share where you found all those Smallies! Thanks for the report

We launched out of Kenmore and caught all of our fish throwing at the docks on the west side of the lake within a mile or so of the north end. I’ve never fished for bass before in that lake so it was blind luck I guess we ran into them when they were hungry.

The perch are spawning in or near the shallows or hanging out near the bluegills and crappy spawning. You were probably too deep for spring. Look along weed lines along the first drop off near the spawning flats in early June. Then go deep again.

Thank you for that intel the next time I go I will try there. I’ve been to Lake Washington perch fishing a couple times in November and January and we did really well so was quite confused not to even see any on the finder. Again, thanks for the help.
