Fished from 3:15 p.m. until 7:45p.m. Air temps in the high 70's when we started dropped to low 70's when we left. A little wind in the later part of the afternoon. Very few fishermen on the water (4-5 others besides my buddy and I). Water temp in the mid 60's. No hatch to speak of (a few midges coming off) and saw a few damsel flies. Started off with black (size 18) chronomids switched to a chain head damsel nymph. 5 fish hooked, 4 landed, all caught with the damsel nymph thrown towards the shallows (reeds) and stripped back slowly. Fished the west end of the lake. This is the 10th time we've been up on Lenice since it opened and the hatches have been fewer and fewer. Only a couple of fish caught with drys. Most fish caught are rainbows (triploids) in the 18-22" range with the occasional brown thrown in. My fishing buddy caught one of the "tiger" trout that were recently planted. It was about 15-16". These fish are suppose to be voracious surface feeders but he caught it with a nymph subsurface. Hopefully the hatches will get better and more consistent and now the damsels should start popping so the fishing will pick up.
