Fantastic couple of days on Sprague Lake with Ben Eggertson!! Had never been there so our expectations were not high. Dang were we wrong! Weather was great and the fishing was amazing. It was FISH ON!!! from the moment we got there.

We caught quite a few. Smallest fish was 4.5lbs and the biggest was right at 5.5lbs. Really nice and they fight like bandits. Fattest, healthiest rainbows I have ever seen. Fillets look like salmon fillets. They are stuffed with chronomids (sp), little red larvae that eventually turn into midges or flies of some kind.

Mainly fished the east end of the lake in appx 15 fow. Shadraps type lures trolled and soaking red or green power bait both produced fish.

Tight lines
Randy

Nice fish Just curious if you have had a chance to eat that fish. The last one I ate from there 10 years ago wasn't very good so I wonder if they have improved. They used to eat a lot of snails. Thanks - Alan

Yeah had one last night. Good. Water was still cold. Think that might not be the case in another month or so.

Way to go, sounds like you nailed them. You said smallest was 4.5 pounds, sounds like you weren't catching any of the smaller recent plants.

Not having been there before our expectations were to maybe catch a few small plants. DAYAM it was nothing but big ones.
