Back to Rock, what a difference only a few days makes. Or maybe it was the NWFR sticker I put on my boat ?? We actually got under way around 10am and were done fishing around 1:30pm. Air temp was warm 65-70. Wind was minimal 5 mph breeze. Water surface temp read 56f (up ten deg from 4 days ago). Clear sky full sun. Water was getting a little murky, more stuff floating to the top in clumps. Getting ready to turn maybe?, Im not a lakeologist so Ill leave it at that. I had my wife with me this trip. We started just past the house by the launch on the west side. I dropped 2 mini wiggle hoochies, one orange one chartreuse green down behind double D dodgers about 18 feet with down rigger. I also ran a Frisky Jenny Roosevelt Chartreuse behind a dodger with 1.5oz weight about 150 feet back. All lines tipped with worm. We made one pass up about 2 miles north of boat launch and back catching our last couple fish just after turning around for another run up the lake north of the house by launch. Most fish were caught between the pinnacles with the little cross on the west bank and about 1.5 miles north of launch 100 yards to mid lake from shore. We caught a few little guys within 10 minutes and then started hooking larger ones mid run. It seemed to taper off further up lake so we turned around and trolled back south. As it seemed to have slowed I added a piece of fire cured shoepeg corn to each lure, I dont know if it helped or we just got back into a "hot spot" but the action turned up again as we returned to the pinnacle area. We ended up getting a double 1-2&3 to finish off the day. 9 Rainbows with one Brown. Most fish were 14-16 inch solid fighters, the brown was 18", we also caught a few 7-8" little guys and we lost quite a few that I suspect to be the smaller ones nearer the top 5-10 foot mark. The top producer for the day was, Chartreuse mini wiggle hoochie 24" leader on a small dodger, and the Frisky Jenny Roosevelt fly in Chartreuse with 1.5 oz weight and dodger trailing back 150' tipped with worm. Best depth seemed between 14-18 feet. Speed was 1.4-1.8 mph. It was a great day, one of the best fishing trips the wife and I have had in a long time lots of good fish in the boat. Now I am ready for walleye !
