Wow, what a fun trip. The bigger males seem to have shown up in force and were quite willing to bite. We trolled em, jigged em and threw plugs at em all with good results. The walleye were very cooperative as we experimented with different tactics. If you are looking to experience Lake Roosevelt Walleye at its finest, now is the time. Lots of nice fish to be had. For how long? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
Most of our fish were pulled from 15-35’ of water. Green seemed to be a common denominator with our lure choices. I like to use light (6lb) braided line. If these fish put up more of a fight I would increase the poundage, but I find 6 to offer great sensitivity and very low drag when pulling bottom bouncers. Dan caught our largest fish at 4 lbs. I can tell you that we had a blast.
