I headed back to Luther Burbank Park after loosing two SMB on my last outing but this time I went up in Jig weight from 1/64th size 10 hook Barbless to a 1/32 Jig with a barbed size 8 as once these fish jumped I was dead without a barb still intact.

Hit the exact same spots and missed the first two take downs at my first spot. Moved to the second spot and nothing there. Checking the depth on my Bobber in front of me I see a SMB zoom in as I removed it from the water to cast. It was still hanging around so I attempted to catch it in full site under me. After a few attempts I landed my first ever SMB over a foot. It all unfolded right before my eyes! I headed back to spot 1 and on the first cast I landed there other SMB that I lost a few days earlier. Back to back Smallie’s! That was it for the day except that I tossed my Bobber Jig set up into the shoreline shrubs and lost it.

Great day catching and releasing my first ever decent sized Smallie’s. I also got a good smile from showing a grandma and her grandson the fish tha was still hanging out near the wall and once the boy final saw it with my Oakley on him, he almost lost my glasses from getting so excited!
