We started catching fish right away in the morning but most were throw backs. Shortly after that, we decided to go burn some gasoline and find some better sized Walleye. We headed South first with bad results from the wind and current moving the boat too fast to jig. Having enough of that, I decided to take today's crew for a trip up to Gifford. We did manage to get a few decent size Walleye even though we had to weed out and throw back the small ones. The crew and I bounced around to some of our best fishing holes. Success! We proudly caught some good sized Walleye and Burbot for the frying pan! Scott caught his first Burbot today to take off his bucket list. Great job, Scott! Most fish today were caught between 45'-90' of water jigging and drifting.
Anyone Interested in catching Walleye and Burbot on the scenic north end of Lake Roosevelt feel free to give us a call 509-464-9657. Dates are limited for the spring Walleye fishing. Happy Fishing Everyone and Safe Memorial Weekend to you all!

Nice to see your consistent success but I’m wondering your technique for successfully releasing the non keepers when fishing that depth? I’ve always been reluctant to fish that deep due to my feeling I had to keep all Fish I caught deeper than 50 or 60 feet.

Are you using one of those release rigs like saltwater fishermen or Mackinaw fisherman use?

Anyway always fun to see your pictures!!

No need for release rigs for Walleye as long as you do not speed reel them to the surface I have released them from 140' deep just fine all winter long. when the northwest Fishing Reports crew came fishing with us and other customers there were no dead fish from being caught deep!
