Had the extreme pleasure of introducing a couple great friends from the westside to our high quality fish in Roosevelt. We were targeting the elusive kokanee but were more than happy to bring quite a few beautiful trout to the net. We only managed three kokes over 2 1/2 days (1 topped 4 lbs) but were able to keep around 18 very nice trout in that same time frame. We released another dozen or so wild ones in the process so there was fairly steady action. The Old Goat was the most consistent lure we put in the water and the color didn't seem to matter but we sure had fun with the pink ones until we lost both of them! Had a wonderful time even though it was in the 90's and the kokanee were few which is why I only gave it a 4. We started out of Spring Canyon but had a more consistent catch rate up near Sanpoil.

I just received my order today. Thanks for getting them out so fast. We lost 4 of my 5 OG1s and I was planning on getting back out asap and didn't know what I was going to use!

Nice report. Do you ever catch bass or walleye trolling those Old Goats?

We picked up one at 40 ft over 200 ft of water. That was it though.

What size is best?

I've used all of the sizes and have had success with them all. I just adjust my speed down a bit when I'm trolling the smaller size.

WOW! We’ve been trying to find kokes there, but no luck! We’ve managed to find some beautiful trout too!

Glad to hear you found some Kokanee! I think I had one on Wednesday. Came out of the water 4 times and looked like a Kokanee and fought like a lion. Caught several nice big Triploid on Friday and they fought completely differently , I'm calling it a Kokanee,

Yea, we had two others on that I was pretty sure were Kokanee as well. They just act different than the trout.

Nice Koke!! Been along time since I've seen a pic posted of one. Good to see it proves they are still out there somewhere and even more they are in my home territory! Well done...

Nice koke for sure! Thanks for the good report. I too am from westside and may be over this week. Can't decide with cooler weather change and only fished twice but in winter and early spring. I'm thinking time of year should help? Really after the kokes but nothing wrong with 3# bows. I have launched at Spring canyon both times and fished there to the dam. Sounds like we might need to head the other direction? You said Sanpoil arm..any help much appreciated. Also, are the kokes really only an early morning bite?

The fish are deeper this time of year but don't be afraid to run a surface line as well. We caught the kokes at 45ft and almost all the trout between 30ft and the surface. We did pick up somer fish right around Spring Canyon but the bite was more consistent just upstream from Keller Ferry near the Sanpoil. We caught our kokes during the am but not too early. The trout bite was consistent all day. Good luck and have some fun!

Thank you. So might as well launch at Keller ferry than Spring Canyon? How far of run on the water is that?
