Had a chance to get away and do some sturgeon fishing on the opener on Lake Roosevelt, fished out of Kettle Falls with my son Amos, first day caught one sturgeon 40 inches, returned to grow some more and had several other bits but was not able to hook up. Sunday fished one spot for several hours and nothing made a switch in our location and boy did it pay off. New location was the ticket, there only 5 minutes and "Fish On" battled that one for 15 minutes and fish made several runs and finally spit the hook. I was really hoping that my son Amos would catch his first sturgeon and my Hope's were answered when my son Amos said, as I was letting my line back out , Dad I am getting a "Bite", I watched as he set the hook and his 12 foot ugly stick doubled over and the line started to peel off his reel , fish made several long runs and after a 35 minute fight my son Amos had his first keeper sturgeon in the boat, measured 56 3/4 inches and weighed 62lbs. "Tight lines and Keep Reelin"!!
