First ever trip to Potholes in hopes of landing those lunker trout I have read and heard about.
Funny thing was all my daughter and I could catch were walleyes. Leave it to a kid to show you the
positive side of all this. Near the end of our trip she says "Dad we've caught a lot of trout before and
we know what they taste like. Let's just keep catching these walleyes cuz Grandpa said they were
good tastin".
You know she was right. Each trip out we landed a nice walleye anywhere from 25" and 6.5lbs to our
biggest of 30" and 9lbs. We caught and released several in the 18"-20" range and also released one that
was 27" and 7+lbs.
Weirdest trip out I landed a 2lb smallie out in the deepest part of the lake trolling my trout setup.
Water level was too high so the trout hadn't really started to show yet. All in all a memorable trip and I will be back.
The folks at Mardons are real nice and helpful.
