I went to stay in Chelan over 6/20 - 6/24 with my partner. The first half our trip was spent in Manson at Wapato Point Resort! The fishing wasn't too good this far up the lake - there were a bunch of carp and brown trout that I couldn't get to bite for the life of me.

2 days later we re-locate to a cute little hotel in the town of Chelan. This is when the fishing got REALLY good! I spent Sat-Mon out on the lake all day in the smaller area near the dam where it wasn't as deep or as choppy. I targeted the bridges/walk ways and sure enough, it was the right choice!

I targeted rainbow and brown trout, but only had 1 bite from a brown trout the entire time. I ended up catching 2 HUGE rainbow trout (both my personal bests). My setup: I would stand above the fish I could see (Lake Chelan is CRYSTAL CLEAR) and drop in a carolina rig right at them. I used roe coloured power bait - extra glittler, extra scent and dipped it in corn trout dip. These fish ATE it up.

Overall, it was a great trip and I hope to go out on a boat with a downrigger to target salmon and bigger trout when I go back in August!
