First time fishing Riffe Lake. Read the reports here and of we went. Arrived at 1 pm left at 730 pm. Took us a couple of hrs to figure out that I really did need to use Kokanee gear and not my standard trout plugs or fast speed. An experiment that didn’t work. Got into the fish by the buoys at the dam. 50-80 ft. Deep. But here’s the kicker, I flat lined a rod 150ft back using a 2 inch mag lip in pink. It absolutely got hammered by the rainbow catching 5 fish at about 16 inches. Finished with The 5 coho to get our limit. Now for the taste test-rainbow vs coho- will see.

Thanks for the report. How crowded was it while you were there?

Not crowded at all. I was there the day before the 4 th. 4 other boats fishing.

Made it there yesterday afternoon, wow, was it crowded! You picked the right day to go my friend. But still, I did manage to nail several slivers. But they are really lethargic, most of them I didn't even know were on my hook until I brought them to the boat. Did you find this to be the case with yours as well?

Yes I did! I was surprised that there wasn’t much of a fight with the coho. However, the rainbow were line rippers. Sorry you hit a big crowd day.

Eagerly waiting for the taste test report... I'm guessing somewhere between kokanee and trout for flavor and texture?

Your guess is spot on I’d say. They both were great eating.
