Slow day on Lake Roosevelt, more fishing than catching. We fished in many locations with very little results. About Noon, we ended up catching a nice size Sturgeon in 250' of water. Roosevelt has had much more different fishing than last year. One day they are biting like crazy and the next day the bite is completely dead. We are catching them in all depths of water in many different locations. Good Luck & Good Fishing Everyone!!!

When you bring a fish up from 250' of water and hold them out of the water, do you think they survive?

Respectfully, it is necessary to bring sturgeon onboard to get an accurate measurement. It is the law. A quick picture while putting it back overboard doesn't harm the fish. Sturgeon are much hardier than some other species.

Duh, I understand that. How long could the humans survive with their head under water? My point was more the depth. @ 250' there is 125psi. The change to surface is potentially deadly. People wonder why sturgeon fishing is much slower this year than last. Ever consider many of the fish caught at extreme depth die?

Clawman, sturgeon are one of the toughest fish I know of. They would have to be to survive 100 years. As far as them surviving the pressure change from 250’ to the surface and back. These fish are not prone to pressure change that other fish are prone to. They can self regulate as is evident as they “belch” on their way up to the surface. They don’t bloat like other fish do when they come up from the depths.
