We put in at Fort Spokane and saw that the wind was higher than expected. Not wanting to fight the wind that would be present in the first several locations I had on my list, I took us up past the narrows past Porcupine instead where I knew it would be more sheltered. We got on the water around 7:30 AM and were probably fishing by 8:00 AM. I think we had the first fish in the boat about ten minutes later. We found them in 35'-40' FOW. Our best color producer has always been some gold and black slow death hook worm harnesses that I put together last year and this day was no exception to that. We only had a short time to fish due to my out of town guest needing to be at the airport that afternoon so we fished until noon and managed to put 8 eyes in the boat. All good sized eaters. Most of the fish hit our rigs with zeal and required pliers to remove the hooks from their throats. We missed very few hookups on the day. All of the fish threw up small fish in the live well. They were too digested for me to tell what species they were feeding on. There were crawdads in their stomachs too, as is usually the case. All in all a really good day with beautiful weather! Couple notes: the fish cleaning station at the fort is closed for repairs, as are the bathrooms closest to the cleaning station. There is a porta-potty set up there. There was signage indicating that Porcupine Bay was closed due to being full.
