Headed out of Edmonds with my trusty 6.5 year old copilot with the intention of picking up the two crabs pots we had set out the previous day just north of Kingston in area 9. Got our limit of crab, then started a troll headed south into area 10 past Appletree Cove. We had two lines one, one at 55 feet of wire with a giibs no bananas and a "cop car" coho killer and second with a trolling sinker and a 3 inch coyote spoon in the wash of the boat. We were trolling around 3mph in anywhere from 100 to 300 feet of water.

Slow going and a ton of seaweed to contend with, but after about an hour of trolling we got a fish on the downrigger about 1/4 mile south of the entrance to the cove, my 6.5 year old started to haul it in but had to hand the rod over after a bit due to a broken finger that is still giving her some problems. We ultimately landed this nice 25 inch hatchery coho, biggest fish of the season for us and quite a fighter. I realized as soon as we landed the fish that I had forgotten to replenish our ice, so threw the fish in the kill bag and was filleting it an hour later. Coho and crabs for dinner, not a bad day!
