The weather man promised a nice day for Aug, 20, 2019 -- And he was right! Son Don and his wife, Connie invited me to try for some Humpies and I accepted. We launched at Manchester and motored up to Possession Bar. We found some fish and put 5 in the boat. We also caught and released a few shakers and lost a few nice fish. Barbless hooks are a fiesty Humpies best friend - they get crazy when they near the boat and can sometimes shake the barbless hook. Connie caught the biggest fish - maybe 8 pounds - I caught the smallest - maybe 3 1/2 pounds. We didn't weigh them.
It was a great day on the water and I was able to catch my first salmon since age 90 caught up with me. There are many things to see on this big, beautiful Puget Sound. On this day we saw Seals, Sea-lions, Dolphins and many species of sea birds. One seabird, I think was a gannet made a spectacular dive into the sound and came up with a small fish. Catching the salmon was great but there was so much more to enjoy.
