Had a fun day on the water with my son, Alex, today on the North Confluence of Lake Roosevelt. We launched out of Gifford late morning and headed up to Daisy looking for some Silvers. We found fish right away near the Chalk Grade Wall. The first couple of fish were some decent Rainbow Trout, so I set my downriggers deeper to 80'. A little bit later, we caught a real nice wild Kokanee. The next half a mile later, we caught another nice Kokanee 2.8lbs and it measured 18" long. I made couple more passes catching nothing but wild Trout so we decided to go south to Gifford. I then started trolling an area in Gifford that I have caught Kokanee before in the past with good results. We lost two more Silvers at the back of the boat and landed one more for the fish cooler. About 3:30 pm the bite completely turned off with a few short hits, nothing committing. All fish today were caught from 65'-85' on downriggers trolling speed of 1.5-1.8 . Good Luck & Good Fishing Everyone!!!
